Lorieen Henry on Her New Book, Cover Him In Prayer
Lorieen Henry is an incredible woman of faith who has dedicated her life to empowering and uplifting women. She is a minister, wife, mother, veteran, podcaster, brand ambassador, and author. Henry’s latest book, Cover Him In Prayer, uses practical and powerful prayers that she prayed for her husband, as well as scriptural references that will inspire and compel you to pray intentionally for your husband. She firmly believes it is not enough to attend to our husband’s physical needs only, but we must also cover them in prayer. Henry emphasizes the tremendous power of prayer and the importance of praying God’s word back to Him.
“God commands us to pray; the needs are great, and eternal things are at stake; God acts when we pray and often does more in seconds than we could ever do,” she explains. “As per God’s order, the husband is the head of the wife, and if he functions correctly, the home is stronger and more likely to function harmoniously.”
Knowing firsthand the importance and the power behind covering one’s husband in prayer, Henry shares a heartfelt prayer from her book, Cover Him In Prayer, that she shares resonates deeply with her.
“Lord, thank you for your divine protection over my husband. He may walk through the valley of the shadow of death and not fear, for you are with him. You are his dwelling place, his rock, his shield and for that I say thank you. Thank you, Father, for assuring me that he is protected from accidents, diseases, dangers seen and unseen. And if it is in your plan that any of these things happen, you are with him every step of the way. You order his steps and place a hedge of protection around him.”
The prayer for her husband’s protection is particularly poignant because she shares that she wrote it in November of 2021, fast forward her husband was involved in a serious car accident with a deer in October 2022.
“God spared my husband’s life,” Henry says. “A deer collided with my husband’s car ripping off the driver’s side of the car. My husband walked away with minimal bruising and a story to tell. God is faithful.” Henry continued to rejoice, saying, “I praise God for sparing my husband’s life. Glory to the King of kings and Lord of lords because I could’ve been a widow. Every time I think about the accident, I am grateful all over again. God protected my husband from dangers seen and unseen. I know God is real.”
I give glory to God for my life and all that He allows! But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

In times of danger, like the incident involving her husband, Henry says she turns to the Word of the Lord and seeks support from her faith-based community through prayer. She cites Matthew 18:19-20, which states, “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Where two or three gather in my name, I am with them.”
