Why NOW is the Time to be Intentional

Challenging times need Christians fulfilling their callings. It takes more than a desire or thought of doing something someday. It takes intentional children of God performing their calling with essential qualities:
Focus.
Planning.
Diligence.
Starting!

Ladies, this is our opportunity to impact the world around us. This statement can be taken two different ways: we can impact the entire globe, or we can impact those who are in close proximity to us. Current circumstances are in our favor.

How many of us have been sitting around for the past two years, continually wishing that things would get back to normal? The season of Mother Earth feeling like she got hit by a Mack truck is finally reawakening to hope, but as intentional Christians, we are offering a disservice to our fellow human beings if we wait for routine to be back in place.

Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Those who are walking with Jesus know our walk is through faith. Having a divine connection opens our spiritual eyes to see what has not yet happened. We must pave the way for the desired results.

It doesn’t matter if our desires are something as grand as seeing homelessness ended, or as personal as seeing our neighbor encouraged. Our diligence may be the reason others bounce back from hardships or thrive in their own callings. We need to ask ourselves, “What can I do today to be intentional with my calling, my desires, my passions that will change the world?”

Consider these reasons to start being intentional today:

The world is waiting on you to share what they need.

Lives around you are looking for help to be lifted from a rut, wisdom for raising children, and guidance for having a solid marriage. Community programs are hoping a volunteer will step up and organize food/clothing drives, marriage seminars, and money management meetings.

The passing of time naturally causes things to fade.

You may have focus, strong health, great mental drive, and innovative ideas today, but the more time passes, the more each of these things will decrease. Don’t let your calling be snatched away by future ailments, distractions, and mental blocks.

Being intentional fulfills you.

Life has its seasons of boredom and feelings of void. Making a difference in the lives of others has a way of making a difference in you.

Others are watching.

As 2 Corinthians 3:2 tells us, “You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all.”
Your walk that fulfills your calling and passions is an example to those around you. Older generations are encouraged, knowing someone else has picked up the callings they are no longer able to do. Younger generations see an example of how to live a fulfilled life in God. Peers your age are inspired to step up in their own callings.

Procrastination gains momentum and reinforcements.

What you put off now will be there to greet you in a week, before you realized a week has passed. Additionally, your errand list and responsibilities have grown, making your starting point more complicated, stressful, and mentally tiring.

Because there is no good reason to wait.

You may not have every plan of action set in place for what you are called to do, but you can get a notebook and pen to begin writing down your thoughts. Be intentional with your plans!
What is the calling or passion?
When do you want it to be implemented?
What do you need to get started?
Who can help you?
What can you do today?
What actions can you take in the next three days, the next week, the next month?

Friends, there is no better time to start being intentional than now! We can’t let fears, obstacles, or excuses dictate our actions when God calls us and has created purpose in each of us. He will be faithful to our calling when we are.

Are we ready to intentionally fulfill our calling? Let’s go!
