The Cost of Saying Yes to God
There is beauty in saying yes to God, but there is also weight that comes with it.
When you first sensed His call, you may have felt a deep fire in your spirit. There was excitement, clarity, and a quiet confidence that settled in your heart. You said yes with faith, trusting God to lead the way even when you did not know what was ahead.
But then came the part no one really talks about.
The cost.
What once felt joyful began to stretch you. People misunderstood you. Doors you thought would stay open began to close. Some relationships changed. Old routines no longer fit the life God was shaping in you. There were moments you wondered if you heard Him correctly at all.
This is the tension of obedience.
The Cost of Obedience
Scripture reminds us to count the cost. Saying yes to God will always cost something. It may cost comfort. It may cost pride. It may cost your own plans. But it will never cost the purpose God created you for.
Sometimes obedience means stepping away from the crowd to stand alone with Him. Sometimes it means letting go of control and trusting God to provide in ways that do not make sense. Sometimes it means walking through seasons where it feels like more is being taken than given.
Even so, every step of obedience draws you closer to God and opens your eyes to His faithfulness.
Trusting God When You Cannot See Clearly
The enemy often tries to convince us that obedience is too hard and the reward is too far away. He whispers that we are missing out or that surrender is foolish.
But the truth is this. Obedience is not about what you lose. It is about what you gain.
You gain closeness with God.
You gain clarity about who you are becoming.
You gain strength you did not know you had.
Obedience is never wasted when it is done for His glory.
When the Weight Feels Heavy
If you are tired right now, God sees you. He knows what you have released. He knows the prayers you have whispered and the tears you have cried in private. His Word promises that your work in Him is not in vain.
This is where trust must take root. Trust that the God who called you will also sustain you. Trust that He is working through every part of your story, even the painful moments.
Walking Forward in Faith
When your yes feels costly, return to these truths.
Stay close to God. Spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word. Let His voice guide you above every other voice.
Release the need for approval. Obedience to God matters more than pleasing people.
Keep your eyes on His promise. What feels like loss today may be God making room for what is coming next.
Your Yes Matters
Your obedience is not just about you. God is using your faithfulness to touch lives you may never see. Your yes brings Him glory and advances His purpose.
You are not behind.
You are not alone.
You are not mistaken.
You are walking in faith, trusting God in the stretching, and becoming the woman He called you to be.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for trusting me with this calling. When obedience feels heavy, help me remember that You are with me every step of the way. Strengthen my heart to remain faithful, my ears to hear Your voice, and my spirit to trust You even when I cannot see clearly. Let my yes bring You glory and bless every life You intend it to reach. In Jesus name, amen.
