TaSheekia Harris’s Book Protect Your Pearls Challenges Readers’ Dating Perspective
TODAY’S PURPOSE WOMAN is proud to celebrate and promote authors who are impacting the lives of others both on and off the paper. In our series, Powerhouse Authors, we highlight and chat with remarkable authors about their books and why they feel it is needed in today’s world.
We recently spoke with TaSheekia Harris, wife, mom, author, and the founder of the Crowing Daughters for Success Enrichment Program. TaSheekia’s fuel is building strong girls so that we do not have to repair broken women. She has customized and facilitated youth development sessions for over 20 years. Incredibly, she preaches the gospel and empowers women and girls through various empowerments to walk in character, God-infused confidence, and faith. Harris is the author of the Dressing My Inner Beauty Journal (girls 10 & older) and the Protect Your Pearls Dating Guide.
Protect Your Pearls Dating Guide was written for women in any dating phase, waiting for a partner. Or married women who need that gentle reminder not to lose themself in the process. It is a biblically based reading experience that includes lived experiences, affirmations, journal writing prompts, journal reflection opportunities, and scripture references that build hope, inspire self-evaluations, and challenge readers’ dating perspectives.
PYP Book Excerpt
The Protect Your Pearls Dating Guide was written with every single woman in mind. Dating can be appealing, positive, pure, and fun. It’s every woman’s dream to fall in love, and when two people desire to be more acquainted – with the hope of taking a romantic journey together- each should enter the dating space with an open mind and purpose to bring the best out of each other.
Dating does not have to be so serious; it can be fun-filled and a purely blissful experience. This guide not only takes you into the art of dating; it also explores many delightful benefits of dating a couple when they are responsible and ready such as:
- Reducing Stress
- Increasing Happy Experiences
- Companionship
If you are looking for an opportunity to grow in love with someone who is just as special to you as you are to them, then this guide is the missing jigsaw dating piece in the puzzle of love.
Below is our conversation with Harris about her book and why she feels it is essential in today’s world.
What inspired you to write the Protect Your Pearls Dating Guide?
I was married for 12 years and divorced when I was 36. I noticed much about dating had negatively changed. The lack of morals and the encouraging decline of standards to be in relationships almost struck fear in me. I wanted to date God’s way. This desire challenged me to set relational standards, guard my heart, commit to having a relationship with Christ over being in a relationship, and maintain focus. After being single for about 8 years, I was blessed to remarry. I began reflecting on my dating experiences, boldness, and willingness to date differently than I had ever done or witnessed before. I authored Protect Your Pearls to give women a godly template for dating productively by creating a dating plan, implementing dating strategies, and avoiding men who refused to date them according to their worth.
Why do you feel this book is essential, especially now?
I feel the Protect Your Pearls Dating Guide is essential now due to the many social pressures causing many women to believe if they are not dating according to the world’s standards, they are dating wrong. Our world system has lowered expectations of the ideal relationship to matching attire and who gets the most views and comments on a post. Unfortunately, dysfunctional dating has been platformed and glamorized for the world to model. The Protect Your Pearls Dating Guide was written to expose relational lies and encourage wholeness before exclusivity. It also aims to highlight the importance of biblical principles being the roots of keeping your dating life flourishing with the hopes of marriage.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I am conducting a Dating Differently with TaSheekia virtual empowerment and a Protect Your Pearls book review to dive deeper into the guide. If anyone would like to host a PYP Empowerment for 2023, I am willing to conduct a Q & A and book signing. Please contact me with any questions at cdfs2006@yahoo.com
