Once God Heals You, Don’t Return to What Broke You

Life can be tough sometimes, and we often face challenges that leave us feeling hurt and hurt. These challenges may include failed relationships, personal loss, career setbacks, or health issues. We turn to God for comfort, guidance, and healing when we find ourselves in these situations. As believers, we know that God’s intervention in times of despair provides us with hope and comfort. God’s healing power is profound and can mend us beyond physical healing. It encompasses emotional, psychological, and spiritual restoration. It helps us rebuild our resilience, self-esteem, and faith in life’s goodness.

Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” This verse speaks to the power of God’s healing. We must recognize the significance of this healing and avoid revisiting situations that initially caused our pain. The phrase, “If God fixes you, don’t return to what broke you,” serves as a profound spiritual guidepost, urging us to avoid slipping back into old patterns that led to our initial brokenness.

Learning from our past mistakes is essential to our growth and spiritual evolution. If we return to the situations or habits that led to our pain, we risk repeating the same mistakes, jeopardizing our healing. Proverbs 26:11 says, “As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.” Every time we revisit what broke us, we reopen old wounds, delaying our healing process and potentially causing more harm.

Moving forward with wisdom involves making conscious choices that uphold our well-being, peace, and spiritual growth. We need to distance ourselves from toxic relationships, unhealthy habits, and negative thought patterns. It’s about creating boundaries that protect our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Forgiveness plays a significant role in this journey. It’s about releasing the bitterness and resentment towards those who’ve hurt us or the circumstances that led to our pain. Forgiveness, however, doesn’t mean returning to what broke us. It’s about accepting the past, learning from it, and letting it go. It frees us from resentment and opens the door to inner peace. Colossians 3:13 says, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

When God heals us, it is an invitation to start a new chapter in life, free from the negative impacts of past hurts and mistakes. It is an opportunity to grow, learn, and transform. Therefore, we should use this divine healing as a stepping stone towards a more fulfilling, peaceful, and spiritually enriched life. Remember, God’s restoration is a precious gift that should be cherished and safeguarded from the perils of past mistakes. Seeking comfort, guidance, and healing in such moments shows the healing power of faith.
