Kisha Martin-Burney: Author, Entrepreneur, and Realtor, Redefining Resilience and Faith
Kisha Martin-Burney is an author, entrepreneur, and licensed realtor based in the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. Kisha is a woman of faith who has overcome tremendous odds and faced many challenges in her life. Her personal journey is a testament to her resilience, determination, and unwavering faith in God.
Kisha is a co-author of the “Faith for Fiery Trials” book series, which shares stories of triumph over challenges with faith. She was inspired to become a co-author in “Faith for Fiery Trials Volume I & III,” because telling her story was therapeutic. Kisha says, “I wanted to inspire other women by telling my story. Life has been full of challenges that I thought would ultimately break me, however, I remained faithful and continued to rely on God.”
Kisha’s contribution in the “Faith for Fiery Trials” books is a testament to her unwavering faith in God. She believes that although one may not see the light at the end of the tunnel, they must continue to press on and trust the process. Kisha says, “It’s my prayer that my chapter will empower others and encourage them to exercise their faith in God.
Kisha is also a successful entrepreneur and licensed realtor for over 21 years in the DMV area. Her profession has been part of her ministry in helping first-time home buyers purchase a home. She is passionate about what she does and gives home buyers seminars, workshops, and investment roundtables. Kisha says, “I help change the mentality of those who are not confident enough to know that they can overcome challenges, such as credit, down payment programs and grants to get into their new homes. I educate them on the process and encourage them to have faith that if they make up their minds to become homeowners, they can overcome any challenge.”
In addition to her role as a co-author and successful entrepreneur, Kisha is also a talented chef. She has her own meal prep business called “Palette by Kisha” and prepares healthy and nutritional meals for people who have very busy schedules. She specializes in various cuisines, including Caribbean, Asian Fusion, Italian, and many more.
Kisha sees her business and ministry as a platform for sharing her faith and inspiring others to overcome their own trials. She believes that all things are possible with God, and her faith has been the source of her strength and resilience. Kisha says, “Faith is the unseen! I began to pray, be silent and waited for God to show up. God is always on time, and you must trust and believe in Him. Faith has brought me a long way.”
Kisha’s faith in God has played a significant role in overcoming challenges in her life. She believes that having faith can sometimes be challenging, but when one feels like all hope is lost, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Kisha says, “When I was at my wits end, trying to handle everything on my own, I had to put my faith in God. There were times that I felt like I could not go on, I was looking for answers in all the wrong places. I had to lay down before God and pray for his guidance.”
Kisha believes that the Christian faith sets itself apart when it comes to finding strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Christians are strong in their faith and very forgiving. Being raised as a Christian, Kisha was taught that if one repents for their sins, God will forgive them. In repentance, there are opportunities for new beginnings. Kisha says, “When we repent, we ultimately put our faith in God that He will renew us. Knowing that God will never leave nor forsake us gives us the strength to be resilient and to bounce back.”
