Inside the Bold, Spirit-Led Journey of the Mother-Daughter Duo Empowering the Next Generation of Creators

The conference line beeps twice on a sunny Friday afternoon as I sit at my desk in South Carolina. It’s noon my time—11 a.m. in Memphis—when Lisa Nelson and Jazzmin Rodgers join the call. The energy shifts instantly. Their voices, confident and warm, fill the digital space with a presence that commands attention, the kind that makes you sit a little taller in your chair. Even through a phone line, you feel it: God is in this conversation.

In exactly seven days, this dynamic mother-daughter team will officially launch Cre8 Content Studio & Social Media Agency, a vibrant new creative hub in the heart of Downtown Memphis. Mixed in their confident and warm voice you can also hear the excitement. The kind of excitement that doesn’t just come from business plans—it comes from purpose.

To open our conversation, I asked a question meant to anchor us deeper: If you could each share one word that captures how you feel stepping into this new chapter—what would it be, and why?

“Faith,” Jazzmin declares without hesitation. “Because that is what this whole process has been for me—it’s a faith process, a trusting process in God, and surrendering to His will.”

Lisa, Jazzmin’s mother and business partner, builds upon that spiritual momentum. “Jazzmin took my word,” she laughs, “but the other word I want to say is favor… God gave me faith and favor as the two words to stand on in 2025. Everything we do is by His divine favor.”

At that moment, it was clear—this was more than a business story. This was a revealing of purpose, obedience, and divine alignment. A behind-the-scenes glimpse into the dynamic mother-daughter duo walking boldly in their assignment, one faithful step at a time.

The concept for Cre8 Content Studio & Social Media Agency was first born in Jazzmin’s spirit years ago. “I came up with the idea in 2017 or 2018 while I was working in Nashville,” she recalls. “I noticed a gap in Memphis for creative spaces. At first, I thought maybe a coworking space. I wrote everything down and brought the idea to my mom.” Then life happened. The vision rested quietly until divine timing awakened it.

“I went through the pandemic and eventually returned to Memphis. I tried doing things my own way, but losing my job made it clear—God was calling me to move, not in my time, but in His,” Jazzmin shares.

Lisa had already seen it—literally. “God gave me a vision,” she says. “I was in a pool of mud, sinking. I was holding Jazzmin in one hand and a baby in the other. Then a voice said, ‘Go this way.’ As I followed the voice, we came up out of the mud.”

Later, God revealed the deeper meaning to Lisa. “I asked the Lord, ‘Who was the baby?’” she remembers. “And He said, That’s the ministry and the businesses I’ve placed within you. You were sinking in the mud with everything I intended to bring forth through you—including the natural child I gave you.”

Then came the divine correction: You were sinking because you weren’t following My voice. But the moment you surrendered and began to follow Me, I lifted you—and everything I destined to be birthed through you—out of the mud and into fruition.

While the vision was spiritual, the foundation was strategic—rooted in experience and stewardship. “I’m a minister and ordained prophet,” Lisa shares. “But I also come from a strong business background—real estate broker, lender, and now stepping into brokerage ownership. Everything I know, God gave me the wisdom to flow.

This preparation proved essential as they faced initial challenges. “We started going to banks, financial institutions. We prepared the plan. We had the right business plan, we had the financials in place, but when we went to each one of those banks, we kept hitting the brick wall,” Lisa recalls. “What God told me in that instant, He said, ‘Watch me. It’s not about what they can do for you—it’s about what I’m about to do through you.’”

As for the space? That was no coincidence—it was divine alignment.

“The Universal Life Building was handpicked by God,” Jazzmin shares. “It’s a historic Black-owned landmark in Memphis that once housed a thriving Black-owned insurance company during a time when opportunities were scarce for African Americans. It’s a perfect match for our mission and legacy.”

Jazzmin didn’t know about the building’s significance until she stepped inside. “I had no idea the building even existed,” she recalls. “I was partnering with a company here in Memphis for a networking event when I first saw the room we’re in now. I thought, Wow—this is exactly what we’ve been envisioning.

Lisa confirms the spiritual connection. “Jazzmin had already described the kind of space she was praying for—an industrial look with lots of natural light,” she says. “When she turned the corner and saw it, she just knew. It had the exact feel, the exact vision. God placed us in that building on that very day so we could see what He had already prepared for us.”

Cre8 Content Studio & Social Media Agency is not just another content studio—it’s the first of its kind in Memphis. “There’s no other space like this here,” Jazzmin says. “It’s a natural light, industrial-style studio that offers everything—social media services, workshops, meeting spaces, even catering. We’re a one-stop shop.”

But the vision doesn’t stop at services. “I want the culture to be like the Chick-fil-A of content,” Jazzmin adds. We laughed. “Friendly, professional, welcoming. I want to create a space where people feel seen. I want to employ creatives who might not otherwise get the opportunity.”

Their bond has been both tested and refined in fire—shaped by hardship, trust, and unwavering faith in each other. Lisa opens up about one of the most defining seasons of their lives. “When I went through this ordeal in 2007, I lost everything dealing with this man and this relationship. I was always in management, and always did well. To the point where, when Jazzmin was little, she used to ask me, ‘Mama, are we rich?’ I told her, ‘No, baby—we’re rich in favor.’”

But life took a hard turn, and they found themselves at rock bottom. “My uncle let us stay in his house, and I remember we were sleeping in the bedroom. I was crying, and Jazzmin looked at me and said, ‘Ma, you don’t need him—you got me.’ That day changed everything for me. I knew what God had given me in her, and I promised I would never let anything come between us again.”

That moment solidified their unbreakable bond. For Jazzmin, that season revealed not just her mother’s strength, but her divine assignment. “I always knew my mom was the person. She’s always been my backbone—my support system. The number one person I can trust in this world. And going through this process with Cre8 made me realize just how perfectly matched we are.”

She continues with a striking realization. “We’re the dream team. She has everything I lack, and I bring what she doesn’t have. It’s literally a match made in heaven.”

Lisa spoke deeply about her walk with God and how she grew spiritually through trials. “My preparation, how He prepares me, is I stay on my face. I seek Him for guidance. I seek His wisdom, and all the ideas and everything I need comes from me being on my face each and every day.” Her challenges didn’t destroy her—they matured her faith and sharpened her spiritual sensitivity.

Jazzmin, seeing her mother walk through hardship, gained a new lens on faith. “She is just so strong… I was there when we were going through everything, but she hid a lot of things that I didn’t know about. Looking back, it’s just like—the strength… because I went through what I went through in this little season, and I felt like the world was ending.”

She realized her mom endured far worse and did it with only God to lean on. “But she didn’t have anybody. All she had was God.” Jazzmin’s own journey of losing a job and stepping into faith mirrored her mother’s path—teaching her not just to trust God, but to walk closely with Him. “I tried to do it my own way. But you can’t do it your own way. God had to strip me of that control so I could surrender to His timing and His way.”

Their mission reaches far beyond building a successful business. For Lisa, it’s about sparking something deeper within the people of Memphis. “There’s so much untapped talent in this city… Our goal is to help them connect the dots—to take what’s in their hearts and turn it into something tangible.”

That same heartbeat extends to the next generation. The Cre8 vision includes empowering youth through education, mentorship, and creativity. “We want to connect with children early,” they explain. “To create classes and opportunities that stir their imagination, help them dream out loud, and give them the tools to bring those dreams to life. It’s about helping them see what’s possible—and giving them a plan to pursue it with purpose.”

And now, that vision is coming to life through a two-day celebration set to mark the official launch of Cre8 Content Studio & Social Media Agency. “We’re hosting a grand opening weekend next weekend,” Jazzmin shares with excitement. “On Friday, April 25, we’re kicking it off with an Influencer and Media Event—something Memphis hasn’t really seen before. It’ll be the first event of its kind here, designed to truly celebrate content creators, influencers, and media voices in a meaningful way.”

Then, on Saturday, April 26 at 6 PM, the doors of Cre8 will open wide to the community, marking the beginning of something Memphis has never experienced before: a space where creativity, culture, and purpose collide under one anointed roof.

Lisa speaks to the generational weight of the vision: “The Bible says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. This isn’t just about building a business—it’s about leaving a legacy. I want this space to be something my grandchildren and their children can inherit. We may be starting here in Memphis, but I see this expanding across the country.”

Jazzmin affirms and expands the vision: “Cre8 is an empire. It’s going to grow huge outside of Memphis. It’s going to have multiple locations and just create this huge creative empire—like a business that has never been seen before.”

“Right now, if you want branding, content, or social media help—you have to go to different places. We’re changing that. Cre8 will be a one-stop space where creatives can get it all in one place.

When asked to complete the sentence “This is just the beginning because…” their answers speak volumes.

Lisa declares without hesitation: “This is just the beginning because there is nothing too hard for God.”

Jazzmin concludes with determination: “This is just the beginning because we have more work to do.”

This story of faith, vision, and legacy demonstrates how divine purpose can transform not just individual lives, but entire communities. Through Cre8 Content Studio & Social Media Agency, Lisa and Jazzmin are building more than a business—they’re creating a legacy that will impact generations to come.
