How Serial Entrepreneur Britney S. Bell Provides Hope, Service and Love in Today’s World
Britney Shaquanna Bell is a creative entrepreneur and college student at UNC Charlotte. She is the president of the Scrapbooking Club at Charlotte where they create opportunities for inclusion and preserve memories on and off campus and the CEO and founder of Bell’s Learning Assistance and Christ Centered Co. Through her business, Bell’s Learning Assistance, Britney offers basic childcare, tutoring and intervention, overnight care, and transportation services.
With Christ Centered Co, Britney designs clothes, journals, art, oil fragrance that comes with positive affirmations, and other merch that inspires people to hold on to Christ, be a light, and live a christ-centered life. Britney tells us that Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” is the foundation scripture for Christ Centered Co. According to Britney, Christ Centered Co will soon be a non-profit organization that will serve the unsheltered community and those needing loving help.
Britney recalls having an entrepreneurial spirit since she was a child. At a young age, she sold candy and snacks out of her backpack at school. “I had a cash register in which I would put all my money and count it every day,” she says. When Britney was 12, she says she became a babysitter. Her strong desire to care for others made her someone her community trusted. At 16, Britney became a food service worker and began working multiple jobs. At 19, she became a tutor at Positive Direction for Youth and was promoted to assistant teacher a year later.
By this time, Britney’s passion for serving grew stronger. She decided to transfer to UNC Charlotte after graduating from Central Carolina Community College in 2020. “When I first arrived in Charlotte in August of 2020, I began work as an assistant teacher at a preschool. I quickly learned that this was different from working with elementary-aged students. I decided to extend my knowledge to better cater to my student’s and their family’s needs.”
In October 2020, Britney began working on her CDA credentials while working full-time and attending UNC Charlotte part-time.
After seven months, she got hurt at work and said she was fired unjustly. “When I got better, I decided to take everything that I learned as an assistant teacher and create my own child care service to care for families who needed my help in the community,” she says. This is how Bell’s Learning Assistance came to be.
Britney admits that starting Bell’s Learning Assistance wasn’t easy, but she knew she was going in the right direction. “After one business, another came.” In July 2021, Britney founded Christ Centered Co. “I had a sketchbook full of clothes I designed over the years that I wanted to put online and let the world see and hear about Jesus and just how loving He is. I added Kymz Oils to my collection in October 2021. The BU collection at Christ Centered Co. launched in March 2022. It inspires people to look and be their best and be themselves while following Christ.”
Britney shares that her work impacts the lives of others by providing hope, service, and love. “I provide hope to the hopeless and encouragement to the helpless. I am naturally a nurturer and giver who loves to serve. I am a prayer warrior. Anyone who knows me knows that I seek the best for others. Service, I provide top-tier child care that families deserve and learning opportunities for children daily. Love, my work gives love. I pour the pure love of Christ into my work and others.”
Before ending the conversation, Britney, CEO and founder of Bell’s Learning Assistance, Christ Centered Co, and President of Scrapbooking Club at Charlotte shares, “When I was four years old, I fell off a Ferris wheel. This caused a lot of body damage and trauma. I had to relearn how to walk. One week before, I made Jesus my Lord and Savior. It was nobody but Jesus who kept me alive for His special purpose. I’m discovering my purpose more and more every day. It’s okay not to know it all, but please know that you are a miracle. I want you to know that you are loved and capable. Choose faith over fear. The world needs what only you can offer. You can do all things through Christ.”
