Dee Smith Author of The Luxe Life, Wants You to Launch A Fabulous & Thriving Online Boutique
TODAY’S PURPOSE WOMAN is proud to celebrate and promote authors who are impacting the lives of others both on and off the paper. In our series, Powerhouse Authors, we highlight and chat with remarkable authors about their books and why they feel it is needed in today’s world.
We recently spoke with Dee Smith, an entrepreneur, speaker, mentor, founder of Closet D Luxe, an online women’s boutique, and host of the Gem of Grace faith-based podcast. She is the author of The Luxe Life: A Guide to Launching a Fabulous & Thriving Online Boutique, a step-by-step guide to launching an online boutique, and includes lessons Dee has learned while launching and operating Closet D Luxe. The Luxe Life readers also learn how Dee’s faith has impacted her business decisions throughout Closet D Luxe’s existence.
Below is our conversation with Smith about her book and why she feels it is essential in today’s world.
What inspired you to write The Luxe Life: A Guide to Launching a Fabulous & Thriving Online Boutique?
From a young age, I enjoyed books and reading. As a child, I walked up and down the aisles of my local, independent bookstore, amazed that so many stories existed in the world.
This love of reading evolved into me journaling on a consistent basis and eventually a call from God to share my experience of launching and operating Closet D Luxe via the written word!
Why do you feel this book is essential, especially now?
As we all know, e-commerce is a large and growing industry, and although there are similarities between launching a brick-and-mortar boutique and an online boutique, there are also many differences.
I felt it was essential to share my experiences doing both with aspiring entrepreneurs who may be facing the same challenges and insecurities I faced and overcame.
Is this book for readers only interested in launching an online boutique, or is it something anyone in business can use?
Although The Luxe Life is based on launching an online boutique, its lessons and advice are applicable to any aspiring entrepreneur. After reading the book, I’d like the reader to have a well-defined roadmap of the steps they need to take to open a successful and thriving business!
I understand you recently launched the Ready, Set, Thrive workshop, which complements The Luxe Life book. Tell us a little more about the workshops.
Shortly after publishing The Luxe Life, I was approached by several entrepreneurs who wanted more advice and guidance on topics including branding, customer experience, and time management. These requests and inquiries led me to develop the Ready, Set, Thrive Workshop, which builds upon the foundational principles introduced in The Luxe Life.
Ready, Set, Thrive Workshops are being scheduled as we speak, and I look forward to continuing to help my readers navigate their entrepreneurial journeys!
