Today’s Purpose Woman sat down with Aurora to discuss her journey, her faith, and her mission to redefine what’s possible in the creative industry.

What inspired you to pursue your business, and how has your faith influenced your journey?

From an early age, I have been driven by a desire to use my talents to inspire, uplift, and make a positive impact through my creative works. Faith has always been the cornerstone of my journey, guiding everything from my writing to producing an award-winning short film. I firmly believe that storytelling has the power to transform lives, and I’ve seen firsthand how faith-driven projects can bring hope, healing, and empowerment. By dedicating my gifts to glorify God, I seek to inspire others, foster change, and leave a lasting, positive impact on the world around me.

Can you share an experience in your business that has profoundly impacted your life and those you serve?

At 16, I founded “The Dancing Jazzorettes,” a dance group for a fundraiser close to my heart. Managing everything from casting to choreography and wardrobe, we were invited to perform at Richwood High School, where our performance earned standing ovations. This experience demonstrated to me the transformative power of creativity and service, inspiring my lifelong passion for uplifting others through the arts.

One of my most significant professional achievements was creating Supercilious. As the writer, creator, and executive producer, I trailblazed as the first woman to lead a Ghana-USA animated short film collaboration. Fulton Film Ghana, LTD announced this achievement as BREAKING NEWS: ‘SUPERCILIOUS’—The First Ghanaian-USA Collaborated Short Animated Film Gets Nominated at This Year’s 54th NAACP Image Awards. The film received international acclaim, was nominated at the 54th NAACP Image Awards, and opened doors for women and minorities in entertainment, particularly during the global lockdown. The overwhelmingly positive feedback reaffirmed my belief that storytelling can serve as a powerful tool for change, reaching and empowering people across the world.

As a Success 2023 Woman of Influence, I feel deeply encouraged and inspired by this recognition, to keep pushing boundaries and creating impactful work, knowing that my work is making a lasting impact.

In what ways do you feel your business is making a difference in the lives of women and families in your community?

Through my work at Borealis Entertainment, LLC, I create content that speaks directly to the experiences and aspirations of women and families. Whether it’s through stage productions or films that garner recognition, I focus on stories that reflect resilience, strength, and the importance of community.

How do you balance your personal life, faith, and business responsibilities, and what advice would you give to others?

Balancing these areas is challenging, but I lean on my faith and focus on priorities. Caring for my 94-year-old mother is my highest responsibility, and I intentionally create time for her while managing my career and creative projects. Organization, intentionality, and trust in God’s timing help me maintain balance. My advice is to find peace in your priorities, stay flexible, and remember that God equips us for what He calls us to do.

Who are the women in business that inspire you, and how have they influenced your path?

Cathy Hughes is one of my greatest inspirations. As a pioneering businesswoman, she built Urban One from the ground up, becoming a trailblazer in the media industry. Her visionary leadership and unwavering determination demonstrate the power of perseverance, creativity, and staying true to one’s values. She’s shown that with resilience and innovation, it’s possible to break barriers and create lasting change. Her example continues to inspire me as I carve my own path in business and entertainment.

Equally, my mother has been a foundational inspiration in my life. Growing up in Louisiana, I witnessed her embody faith, resilience, and an entrepreneurial spirit. A single mother of four, she balanced raising us, caring for her own mother, running her own business, and being an active church member. She instilled in us the value of education and taught me the power of owning your own business to create freedom and opportunity. In my own life, I have learned how to createmy own path. Her strength, integrity, and dedication to service continue to inspire me as I pursue my goals, reminding me every day that with faith and hard work, anything is possible.

What legacy do you hope to leave within your community as a woman in business?

I hope to leave a legacy defined by a commitment to excellence. My goal is to create work that is not only impactful but also a testament to the power of faith, creativity, and hard work. Through my storytelling and creative projects, I strive to inspire others to pursue their passions and achieve their highest potential, just as I have. I want my legacy to reflect the importance of integrity and resilience, with an unwavering dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others, especially women and families in my community.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

As I look ahead to 2025, I am honored to be in the company of powerful women who are shifting culture and paving the way for the next generation of storytellers. I’m here not just to create but to lead, inspire, and leave a legacy of purpose and resilience. Every step of my journey is about impact, not just for myself, but for the communities and the stories I champion.
