They’ll Love You Today, Hate You Tomorrow

She was the woman everyone loved. The one whose voice shook rooms, whose ideas sparked inspiration, whose presence brought light. She wasn’t just good at what she did—she was anointed for it. She led with excellence, she made bold moves, and she didn’t wait for permission to walk in her calling.

But then, it happened.

She made a decision for her brand, her ministry, or her business—one that didn’t sit well with everyone. Maybe she shifted direction. Maybe she restructured her team. Maybe she enforced boundaries. Whatever it was, it didn’t get the applause it deserved. Instead, it stirred whispers. Cold shoulders. Unfollows. Silence from the same people who once cheered the loudest.

If this woman is you, you’re not imagining it. You’ve simply reached a level of leadership where obedience sometimes looks like rebellion to those who weren’t in the room when God gave you the vision.

From Applause to Attack: The Shift No One Talks About

There’s something nobody tells you about purpose-driven leadership: The crowd that once loved you can quickly become the same crowd that questions you when you start making kingdom moves that don’t fit their preferences. And sis, it hurts.

You gave your heart to the vision. You prayed over that decision. You fasted, listened, and moved with integrity. But because people didn’t understand it—or didn’t benefit from it—they started treating you like you were the problem.

But here’s the truth: They loved the light you carried—until it revealed what they weren’t ready to confront in themselves.

Galatians 1:10 (NIV)
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

This Is What It Means to Be Set Apart

You weren’t created to keep everyone comfortable. You were created to carry out the assignment God gave you—even when it costs you applause.

And when you’re in a high position—whether in ministry, business, or community leadership—those decisions come with weight. Not everyone will understand why you move the way you do. They don’t see the spiritual warfare behind the scenes. They don’t know about the lonely nights or the countless “yeses” that cost you dearly. All they see is what they don’t agree with.

Let them misunderstand you. God understands perfectly.

And if you ever start to question why it hurts so much to be betrayed by people you once loved or served—remember this:

They did it to Jesus.
The same crowd that shouted “Hosanna!” shouted “Crucify Him” days later.
They loved Him when He fed them.
They hated Him when He challenged them.

So what makes us different?

If Jesus—the perfect Son of God—was misunderstood, rejected, and betrayed, why do we think we’ll be exempt when we walk in His footsteps?

You’re Not a Villain—You’re Obedient

You’re not harsh. You’re not too much. You’re not unapproachable. You’re simply becoming the kind of woman who won’t dilute her calling to be palatable to people who were never meant to lead with her.

And yes, it’s lonely sometimes.

But obedience often isolates before it elevates.

Let their silence sharpen your focus. Let their exit protect your peace. Let their distance free you from the need to perform.

Let’s Get Real: Are You Leading or People-Pleasing?

This is your moment to pause and reset—not based on emotion, but based on purpose.

REFLECT:

  • Where have I allowed people’s opinions to distract me from God’s direction?
  • What decision am I hesitating to make because I’m afraid of being misunderstood?

JOURNAL PROMPT:

  • What boundaries or bold decisions have I been afraid to enforce to protect the vision God gave me?

Say This With Your Whole Chest

“I am not moved by applause or rejection. I am rooted in Christ, led by the Spirit, and committed to my assignment—even when it’s lonely. God called me, and I will lead with boldness, grace, and divine authority. I choose obedience over opinion. I choose purpose over popularity.”

You’re Not Crazy—You’re Called

If you’ve been wrestling with the sting of rejection, questioning your decisions, or wondering why obedience feels so heavy sometimes—let this remind you:

You are not alone.

There’s a sisterhood of women like you—women who’ve had to lead through betrayal, make tough calls, and protect the vision at all costs. You are seen. You are heard. You are still chosen. And just because they don’t understand you doesn’t mean you missed God.

In fact, their confusion might just be confirmation that you’re right where He wants you.

So stand tall, woman of purpose. Keep making the hard decisions. Keep protecting what God gave you. Keep walking with your head high—even when the applause fades.

Because when the lights go down and the crowd disappears, it won’t be their approval that sustains you—it’ll be your obedience to the One who called you.
