Rev. Dr. Evelyn Murray Drayton: A Today’s Purpose Woman to Watch in 2025
Rev. Dr. Evelyn Murray Drayton is a powerful ordained evangelist, head-on collision survivor, recording artist, and published author of nearly ten Christian books, dedicated to equipping and empowering others to fulfill their ministry assignments. We spoke with her, and she is truly a Today’s Purpose Woman to watch in 2025 for her inspiring journey and impactful ministry.
What led you to pursue a calling in ministry, and how has your faith shaped that journey?
This is a great question, but honestly, at first, I did not pursue a calling in ministry; I actually ran away for various reasons. However, over time, it seems God allowed opportunities for me to talk about Him and His goodness.
Can you share an experience in your ministry that has profoundly impacted your life and those you serve?
Absolutely! I have experienced many challenges in ministry, some of which led me to periods of isolation. Surviving a near-fatal head-on collision was also a time of isolation that opened my eyes to greater opportunities to listen and minister to others. I learned how to discern hurt and brokenness in myself and others. I’m grateful to be in ministry, as it provides me with a platform to better serve and bring comfort to those who are hurting. Sometimes, it seems I was broken to show the world that our God still mends broken pieces. I share this traumatic experience in one of my books, which has blessed many others for God’s glory.
In what ways do you feel your ministry is making a difference in the lives of women and families in your community?
While I have a public platform in my community to minister to others, I have also found that I am very effective at ministering one-on-one. In that “quietness and confidence,” I have discovered my strength (Isaiah 30:15) to impact others. I contribute my time and resources to various activities and events in the community. Even some men have shared how much my words encouraged them to keep moving forward.
How do you balance your personal life, faith, and ministry responsibilities, and what advice would you give to others?
I balance responsibilities by identifying my motives. Even though I can experience great gain by making favorable decisions, my motive should always be about purpose and how others can be blessed through my choices. My advice to others: Try not to hide your hurt and pain but instead use them as tools to help produce a positive change in the lives of others. I repeat—be sure your motive is pure and purposeful.
Who are the women in ministry or business that inspire you, and how have they influenced your own path?
I look up to women who have taken a little and made it great. I listen to women who had small beginnings and became international influencers. I admire women who seemed to have lost it all but survived. These are the women who inspire and help uplift others on the journey to recovery and freedom.
What legacy do you hope to leave within your community as a woman in ministry?
I am using my time, talent, and resources to help build my foundation. I have written a number of books that offer health and hope to others. As I say during some of my sermons, “I may not hoop or holler, but I will help.” May my compassion, honesty, and integrity live on to inspire others.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I am available to minister by booking at www.EvelynDrayton.org. I would like to share that God allows situations in our lives that make us the perfect medicine for those who will cross our path. God can create a rainbow for others from all of our disappointments and pain. Continue to tell your story for God’s glory.
