Kristee’s professional journey began at 21 when she entered federal service without knowing what to expect. As the first-generation graduate of a poor South Carolina family, she learned the values of entrepreneurship through networks of professional and elite women who she continues to meet to this day. “Becoming an author has been a life-changing experience for me. It has allowed me to connect with people on a deeper level and share my story in a way that I never thought was possible. I believe that everyone has a story to tell, and it’s important to share it with others to inspire and motivate them to overcome their challenges,” says Kristee.
Faith for Fiery Trials is a book series that focuses on triumphing over challenges with faith. Kristee’s chapter “Blindsided Courage” tells the story of a naive college graduate coming to a big city unaware of the nuances of workplace harassment. She faced scrutiny due to personal opinions and male opposition in her field. Through her faith, she overcame these challenges and moved forward. “My story is one of adversity, attempted victimization, and triumph in the face of sexual harassment,” shares Kristee.
Kristee believes that faith can move mountains. “Not just faith, but a person’s belief that God will work it out and seeking your most powerful gifts that are given to you at birth. It is our human duty to seek those gifts and understand how they are to be used to make an imprint on the world big or small. I know that my challenges were not just a triumph of myself, but a victory of God. I am still facing different challenges but know that they are meant to be shared in some way to guide someone through their own,” says Kristee.
Kristee hopes that readers will take away from her contribution that they do not have to ever be a victim to anyone who is deemed superior over them professionally and that there is always an option to remove yourself from an unbeneficial situation. She wants readers to use their voices to speak and be a beacon for themselves, their community, and the “sisterhood.” “There are so many things on the surface that can cause division among the sisterhood. It’s best that we share and reveal our testimonies to encourage each other. Regardless of education, experience, resources, and influence, build into the tribe that God brings you to be able to serve the greater good,” says Kristee.
Maintaining faith during difficult times can be a challenge for many people. Kristee offers advice to individuals who are facing their own fiery trials and seeking to strengthen their faith. “Understand that you are not the only one facing trials. Know that you are not given anything that you cannot handle. Whether you understand today or tomorrow, know that God already knows your story, reveals to you those lessons to make you stronger and to use you as a vessel for those behind you who may need your testimony. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and a message behind each choice that you make in life. While some things happen to us, it’s with our faith and ability to never give up seeing each trial through and walking through the door(s) that awaits us.”
In addition to her role in the literary world, Kristee is a grant professional, a motivational influencer, and a mother. She continues to inspire and empower people through her writing and coaching. “I am still walking and living my story, and I want to inspire others to do the same. We all have the power to overcome our challenges and live our best lives. It’s just a matter of believing in ourselves and our ability to make a difference in this world,” says Kristee.
