Rev. Lynda Brown Hall’s life is a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and healing. As one of the co-authors of the book project “Faith for Fiery Trials,” she opens up about her personal journey and the inspiration behind her involvement in this powerful collection of stories. Rev. Lynda’s life began with adversity. Growing up as one of eight children in a family where both parents were present, she faced unique challenges. She described herself as “fair-skinned with sandy-colored hair,” an appearance that set her apart from her peers. This led to teasing, taunting, and even physical fights throughout her early education. Rev. Lynda’s experience was a testament to the challenges she faced as a determined black girl during a turbulent period in history marked by the Black Power Movement.

But her journey was further marred by traumatic events. She endured molestation by a family member and a separate incident of rape by a family acquaintance on the way home from school. Despite these traumatic experiences, Rev. Lynda was determined to pursue her dreams and education to prove that she could succeed, even when the odds were stacked against her.

When Dr. Nicole Mason, Esquire, whom she affectionately refers to as her God-given daughter, proposed the idea to be a part of “Faith for Fiery Trials,” it presented a unique opportunity for healing. Rev. Lynda had never spoken about the painful events of her youth and had suppressed her feelings for years. “I am now an established professional in ministry and with 47 years of Federal Government Service in Law Enforcement and I’m asked to do what? I never took the time to seek healing at all. I dressed it up and moved forward, not realizing I was masking my pain.” 

Rev. Lynda’s decision to contribute to the book was met with hesitation. “I was hesitant at first, but Nicole reassured me. She has always been a source of inspiration and motivation for me,” Rev. Lynda confesses. Rev. Lynda realized this was an opportunity to care for herself, heal, and help others facing similar struggles. Writing about her experiences allowed her to confront her pain, liberating her from the years of hiding and pretending.

Rev. Lynda’s contributions to the “Faith for Fiery Trials” book project extend to two volumes: “Faith for Fiery Trials, Daily Devotionals” and “Faith for Fiery Trials: Triumphant Faith for Trying Times, Volume III.” Her chapters in these books highlight her unwavering faith that helped her triumph over life’s challenges.

In her writings, Rev. Lynda reflects on how she held onto her belief in God even in her darkest moments. She knew God had a plan for her life and needed to lean on her faith to overcome adversity. Her faith in God gave her the strength to resist a troubled neighborhood’s temptations and avoid dangerous paths like drugs and crime. She chose to walk the path of faith, believing it would lead to a better future.

Rev. Lynda’s faith played a pivotal role in her life, enabling her to move mountains of obstacles. “Faith gives me the assurance that the God I serve is capable of fulfilling His promises,” she says. Her unwavering belief in an all-powerful God gave her the confidence that she was never alone. She knew that God had ordained her life’s path, and she could overcome any challenge with faith.

Rev. Lynda’s motto, “God knows and sees everything that you do. Just wait on Him to provide for your life,” exemplifies her unshakable trust in God’s providence. Rev. Lynda’s life serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith, and she has consistently relied on it to navigate the trials she has faced.

Rev. Lynda hopes her contributions to “Faith for Fiery Trials” will resonate with believers and non-believers. She wants readers to understand that their circumstances of birth, family, or environment should not dictate their destinies. Her story illustrates that anyone can overcome challenges and fulfill their God-given potential with faith and determination. “I hope readers understand that despite all the challenges that I faced growing up, I stand today fulfilling the purpose God has assigned me,” she expresses.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Rev. Lynda’s journey is her pending consecration as a Bishop in the Lord’s church, a calling she first encountered in a dream at the tender age of seven. Her story demonstrates that God’s plans may take time but are always fulfilled, even against seemingly insurmountable odds. Her message is clear: trust in God’s timing and obey His will.

Rev. Lynda’s ministry, Nevertheless Outreach Ministry Church, has been instrumental in sharing her faith and inspiring others to overcome their trials. Established in 1991 in the District of Columbia, the ministry has extended its reach worldwide. Rev. Lynda and her ministry have touched countless lives through various initiatives and affiliations with local and federal agencies.

Nevertheless Outreach Ministry Church provides a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to find healing and hope. Rev. Lynda and her team offer holistic support, from spiritual guidance to access to social services, counseling, and rehabilitation programs. The ministry’s motto, “Bringing glory and honor to the Triune God by promoting the truth of God’s Word to effect change in the lives of those we serve,” reflects their unwavering commitment to sharing the message of faith and resilience.

In a world with diverse belief systems, Rev. Lynda believes that Christianity sets itself apart through its rich history and the enduring power of its teachings. While strength and resilience can be found in various faiths, Christianity stands as the largest of the world religions, with a history spanning over two thousand years.
