How Ayesha Thomas Provides Women with the Tools to Walk in Freedom
Ayesha Thomas is a firm believer that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. As a survivor of many past traumas, Ayesha combines her firm faith and expertise in clinical social work to inspire and encourage others. Her resilient faith helps young girls and women in her ministry called YAB (You are Beautiful), where she encourages them, prays for them, and uplifts them.
There was a time in Ayesha’s life when she felt low and wished there had been others around to encourage her in those moments. “I believe where there is just a little hope, there is LIFE.” Ayesha wrote her first book several years ago titled, Still Standing, where she encourages readers to overcome their struggles even in the midst of the worst of trials.
“I felt that I had been through so much in my life before getting married for the second time. I was a single mom for quite some time, and the struggle was real”. She continues, “There were times I did not know where our next meal would come from, although my children at that time had no clue. “I attended college while working two jobs and it was hard. Eventually I had to postpone classes a few times but would eventually start back going. I changed my major a few times in the midst.”
Although Ayesha’s struggle was very real, she continued to make things work for her daughters and herself. “One day I decided it was time for me to give my life to Christ for real. I say this because at an early age I had done this but I was living my life contradictory to the word of God.” Consequent upon giving her life to Christ, things began to turn around slowly for Ayesha’s good. Fast forward to many years later, Ayesha met her now-husband, Retired Sgt Major Derek Thomas. “Although my husband and I did not start out right in the beginning when we were dating, we repented, and God turned it around for our good. I felt like my husband was a man after God’s own heart. He treats me like a Queen and supports me.”
Things truly turned around for Ayesha and she felt like she needed to share her story with others to remind them that trouble doesn’t always last. “If God did it for me, He could do it for them. Therefore, I wanted others to know even from birth and in childhood, it will all work together for their good.”
Fast forward to Ayesha’s most recent two books/journals. She went through a very hurtful situation. The hurt was to the point where she did not want anything to do with the individuals. “I did not hate them. I just no longer wanted to be around them. I went on several fasts to try to alleviate the hurt and pain. I even went through some deliverance to get free from the hurt and pain. While on this journey, God reminded me of His love and why I must forgive these individuals to be forgiven myself and be free.”
During Ayesha’s healing process, she heard 70×7 and how often we should forgive others if they repent. “This is how my second book, 70×7: I Choose To Forgive, was birthed”. Ayesha also published her prayer Journal, 21 Days of Prayer. “I love to pray,” Ayesha says. She shares that she receives prayer requests frequently and is asked how to pray. This inspired her to share 21 days of praying. “It is said that what we do for 21 days straight will become a habit.”
Ayesha believes there is nothing that Believers can go through in life that the Father will not use for others. Further, she believes that all things work together for our good. “If I could tell women or young girls anything, it would be never to base the end on where you are currently. If you continue to persevere and put God First, things will work themselves out.”
