2024 Woman to Watch: Nthabiseng Ngoepe
In the bustling world of high-stakes law and advocacy, Nthabiseng Ngoepe stands apart as a remarkable beacon of resilience, faith, and transformation. She is an accomplished attorney, a devoted wife and mother, a trailblazing author, an inspirational speaker, and an astute entrepreneur. With a life story that reads like a cinematic tale of overcoming adversity, Ngoepe is not just another face in an elite crowd. She is a force to be reckoned with, a woman whose imprint on the world will echo through the ages.
At the tender age of 16, Ngoepe’s life could have been relegated to a mere statistic of teenage pregnancy. Later, with multiple suicide attempts to her name, she could have become another tragic tale of lost potential. However, Ngoepe’s spirit was not to be tamed. She conquered her struggles, emerging not merely as a survivor but as an embodiment of triumph against life’s harshest storms.
“I was drawn to the legal field by a twist of fate,” Ngoepe shares, her voice carrying the weight of her journey. “I had initially set my sights on actuarial science, but my struggles with Mathematics led me down a different path. Now, I cannot envision myself anywhere else but in the world of law.”
Ngoepe’s passion for property and civil construction law is not just about legal battles. It’s about shaping the future, influencing the growth of cities and provinces, impacting economic development, and ultimately, partaking in creating opportunities for people. “Being part of a chain that contributes to economic growth and employment is a privilege I do not take lightly,” she asserts.
As an advocate for mental health through her organization Choose to Live Movement, Ngoepe is committed to dismantling the stigma associated with mental health struggles, particularly within the Christian community. “We are slowly transforming the narrative,” she says. “It is okay to not be okay. It’s not taboo to speak openly about ones mental health struggles or to seek help. This is a major breakthrough in bridging the gap between faith, mental health, the healing power of God’s word and His love.”
Her faith is not just a personal belief for Ngoepe; it shapes her professional actions and decisions. “I have let peace guide me always,” she shares. “I have let respect for authority be pivotal in what I do. God puts kings in charge and it is He who removes them. The best human interests should never be far from whatever we are doing because ultimately that is where the heart of God lies.”
Looking ahead to 2024, Ngoepe is set on tackling and advocating for a healthier workplace environment. “Profitability is directly married to the mental health of an organization’s human capital,” she argues. “A healthy working space impacts the employees’ home life, and that’s something we must start advocating for.”
Ngoepe’s story is a testament to her indomitable spirit, unyielding faith, and relentless pursuit of justice. As a Christian woman in a challenging field, she is a shining example of how faith and professional excellence can harmoniously coexist. Her voice, advocacy, and life work make her a Woman to Watch in 2024.
